South Student Receives National Award

Noel Godang, a medical student at the University of South 麻豆果冻传媒 Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine has received the Sydney D. Rodenburg Memorial Scholastic Award. This award is given by the allied health profession鈥檚 national honor society, which is the Alpha Eta Society. Godang鈥檚 award was recently announced at the annual Alpha Eta Society Business Session and Awards celebration.
This national scholastic award honors a student with a record of excellence in scholarship, leadership, and collegiality. Godang is using his $1,000 award to help purchase medical supplies. Godang enjoys his service learning opportunities through Victory Health Partners and the USA Student Run Free Clinic.
鈥淚 love to volunteer at both places and can use stethoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, and otoscopes whenever needed for our patients,鈥 said Godang.
The idea of an allied health national honor society was first proposed in 1973 to recognize the scholarship of allied health students. The model and bylaws of this club were modeled after the University of Florida鈥檚 local honor society, which is Eta Rho Phi
